Complete Before Starting Online Orientation:

Review Degree and Major Requirements

In addition to general education courses, your class schedule will also include courses related to your major and degree requirements.

Understand PSU's General Education Requirements

All PSU undergraduate students complete general education requirements in addition to courses related to their major. General education requirements are met by completing the University Studies or Honors College curriculum. Online Orientation provides an in-depth look at how you’ll complete your General Education requirements alongside your degree and major requirements. The modules below may be helpful in continuing to explore this topic.

Complete Math Placement Test (required for certain majors)

Students with majors specified here probably need to complete the math placement test prior to signing up for Orientation. Find out if you need to take the Math Placement Test.

Download the myPSU App

Prepare for Orientation by downloading the myPSU app from the Google Play Store or iTunes Store. The myPSU app is designed to help students plan their courses and keep track of important To Do’s as a PSU student.

After Completing Online Orientation:

Submit Final Official Transcripts

Final transcripts are not required in order to sign up for or attend orientation, but we recommend you submit official transcripts from all schools attended as soon as possible. Request an official transcript be sent from your school to PSU’s Admissions Office as soon as final grades are available, but no later than August 1. If you are currently attending another college or university, or have transfer credits not in your PSU record (including AP or IB tests).

Submit MMR Vaccine Requirement Form

The MMR Vaccine Requirement Form is not required in order to sign up for or attend orientation, however, Oregon law requires all students to submit proof of measles vaccination or provide an exemption before registering for their second term of courses. You must submit the Measles Vaccine Requirement Form before your second term of enrollment, otherwise a registration hold will be placed on your student account preventing course registration.

Review Your Health Insurance Options

All students taking five or more credit hours per term (1 credit hour per term for international students) are required to have comprehensive medical insurance coverage.

Prepare for Remote + Online Learning

We recognize that learning in a remote environment brings unique challenges. Particularly if you have not completed fully-online courses before, the virtual resources and time management required for learning and homework may take some getting used to. We highly recommend setting aside time to explore these Online + Remote Learning resources compiled by PSU's Learning Center.

We encourage setting aside time to complete the Online + Remote Readiness course on D2L, in particular. The interactive course will introduce you to D2L (Desire To Learn), a learning platform used by most instructors across PSU's campus.

Complete your Understanding Sexual Misconduct and Resources Student Module

All PSU students are required to complete the Understanding Sexual Misconduct and Resources module. This will provide more information about PSU’s expectation on community standards and what resources are available to all students. It can be found in your D2L that you log into with your Odin name.

Complete the New Student Survey

This survey is essential to help us connect you to useful resources and services as we support you through your journey to graduation. It asks questions about your background, your skills, and any challenges you may be experiencing as you prepare to begin classes. It will take you less than 10 minutes to complete, and your responses are confidential.

Connect with the PSU Community

Explore the Student Activities and Leadership Programs database of upcoming campus events, online service projects, and student organizations. Connect with PSU’s Admissions Instagram for up-to-date details about incoming student programming and more.

Sign up for a Bystander Workshop

We are committed to maintaining a safe campus environment for all which is why Illuminate, in partnership with Orientation Programs, is hosting Active Bystander Intervention Workshops prior to each academic term. As a new member of the PSU community, you are required to attend one of these sessions. Reserve your spot in an upcoming session
