Preparing Application Materials
LSAMP provides both group and one-on-one mentoring to help you prepare a competitive application packet for research experiences, internships, and scholarships. This includes short essay responses, personal statements, cover letters, and more.
Incoming and current students should apply to all available PSU scholarships for which they are eligible using the PSU Scholarship application portal. Scholarship applications go live on October 1 and close on February 1 every year.
There are a variety of scholarships students can apply to either based on the county you graduated high school from, demographics and income level, major, or hobbies. Review our curated STEM resource document to see additional external scholarships and other useful information.
Incoming LSAMP students will be able to access a free 1-year subscription to myScholly, which tailors available scholarships to you, simplifying the scholarship search process. Included in this free subscription is an AI-based writing assistant and math problem solver.

|Emerging Leaders Institute||Emerging Leaders is a Portland-based organization that is focused on improving the racial and cultural diversity within leadership structures in local organization. |LSAMP Scholars Program||LSAMP offers a quarter-long research/internship experiences with faculty with funding available for active members of LSAMP. Awards will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. Visit this Google Form to apply.|
|Research Experiences for Undergraduates||The National Science Foundation (NSF) offers funded summer research experiences at various colleges and universities across the country. Use the site search feature to find programs in the NW and beyond.|
|McNair Program||The McNair Program is a U.S. Department of Education funded program that supports low income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented students prepare for graduate programs through independent research projects and graduate school preparation.
