Installing filters

PSU's pandemic response efforts include an emphasis on air quality and HVAC filtration. Many buildings on campus have undergone an upgrade to their air filtration system. Research shows that MERV-13 filters are successful in filtering out the COVID-19 virus.

Currently, all PSU buildings are closed to the general public and only accessible to those with PSU ID cards. Learn more on the building access webpage.

Review Return to Work planning tools and guidelines

When does campus-based work resume?
Most staff members who have not been working on campus throughout the pandemic can expect to return no later than Sept. 7, the day after Labor Day. All employees working on a nine-month contract, including faculty, return Sept. 16. See President Stephen Percy’s video announcement, above.

Can I work on campus over the summer?
With Multnomah County now in the low-risk category, employees are allowed to use on-campus work spaces more regularly, provided health and safety guidelines are met. Employees should consult with their supervisors and supervisors should ensure that physical distancing is possible within work areas. (Note that guidelines may change by fall.) PSU ID cards are currently required to enter all buildings.

How do I get my department ready for employees returning to campus?
From cleaning the office fridge to making sure employees hired during the pandemic have ID cards, there are a host of tasks that should be completed before departments return to the office. This checklist walks you through the steps. Human Resources has developed a Return to Campus Guide and specific tools for supervisors.

To protect your health and well-being, all our classes are remote through summer 2021, but our campus is open — with new safety measures — to provide student support. PSU is planning for a return to primarily in-person instruction for fall 2021.
