President's Diversity Action Council

About Us

Created in 1999, the Diversity Action Council (DAC) is commissioned by the President and Vice President for Global Diversity and Inclusion, and is comprised of PSU faculty, staff, and students. The DAC's role is to foster equity and social justice by reviewing PSU programs, policies, and decision making and developing recommendations that aid the university in our work to serve  the best interests of our diverse constituents.

DAC Committees

Each DAC member serves on a minimum of one committee to help move forward DAC projects and initiatives. DAC Committees are charged with reviewing current practice, researching best practices, supporting the development of diversity education & learning and providing recommendations that assist PSU achieve its strategic plan goals. Committees meet as agreed upon by members and chairs, guided by their goals for the year. Subcommittees plan their meetings related to the timeframes of their purpose.

What We Do

Each academic year the DAC sponsors diversity programming and special projects through its President's Diversity Mini-Grants Program. The council recognize honorees for their outstanding accomplishments in making PSU a more diverse, inclusive and equitable university through the annual President's Diversity Awards. The DAC also constantly works towards the goals of the PSU Strategic Plan and the Diversity Action Plan. For Portland State to be successful in achieving these diversity goals, it requires the commitment of every PSU student, faculty and staff member. A general call for nominations for DAC membership will go to the campus community each academic year.
