Residence Life

Are you interested in becoming a Resident Assistant, Learning Community Assistant, or Resident Academic Mentor for the 2021-2022 academic year?  These positions are responsible for providing resources and assistance that will make each residence hall community a place that supports and enhances student life.  Current students are eligible to apply.

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RA) are responsible for the general administration, development, and implementation of student life programs in the residence halls. RAs are responsible for providing resources and assistance that will make each residential community a place that supports and enhances all aspects of student life. RAs are full-time students who live in the residence halls and act as a role model and representative of UHRL.

Learning Community Assistants

Learning Community Assistants (LCA) are responsible for the development and implementation of First Year Experience programs in Ondine and Broadway halls with specific goals around academic success, diversity, and retention. LCAs are responsible for providing programs, resources, and assistance that will support and enhance academic success, a global perspective, critical thinking, and civic responsibility tied to the Freshman Inquiry theme.

Resident Academic Mentors

Resident Academic Mentors (RAM) are responsible for fostering a supportive learning environment for academic and personal success in the residence halls. They provide one-on-one mentoring, information on campus resources, and student success skill building to residents. RAMs provide valuable support for residents designed to retain and support students through graduation while promoting achievement, character development, academic engagement, and independence.

Social Media Coordinator

Excited about social storytelling? Come tell our story from the student perspective on our Facebook and Instagram channels. Position is flexible, typically working 8-10 hours/week. Web experience a plus but not required.

Student Graphic Designer 

Support departmental print, social media, email, web, and general communication needs for housing operations and residence life. Must be available for 10-20 hours/week and have intermediate skills using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.

Student Ambassador

Offer outreach to prospective students and families about on-campus living, lead housing tours, promote student engagement with VikNights and University Success, represent Housing at events, and table in a variety of settings. Must be available for 2-10 hours/week.  Tours take place at 1:00pm 1-5 days/week. Additional events will take place outside of these hours.

Montgomery Service Desk 

The Montgomery Service Desk is the main package hub for all residents. Desk Assistants are responsible for answering questions via email, phone, and walk-ins, processing and issuing keys and packages, and basic data entry. Montgomery Desk Job Description
